ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY OPEN SALON // LONDON // ARLES // SOUTH EAST ASIA
Photography Open Salon is a global platform in space, in print and on screen for great photographic art and the discourse that surrounds it.
Founded as an artist-led initiative, it is designed to share, promote and exhibit photographic stories and expressions, and enable new photographic work to be seen, communicated, commissioned and published by creating new audiences, dialogues, followers and collectors. Since its inception in 2011 Photography Open Salon has exhibited over 200 photographers from 45 countries on two continents, and enabled them to exhibit and have exposure during and alongside the renowned international photography festival Les Rencontres d’Arles (in collaboration with Galerie Huit) and in South-East Asia (in collaboration with China House). The exhibited work has been published in two books Transience and An Eye for an Ear. Both books are part of 2013 Rencontres d’Arles Book Award selection.
Photography Open Salon is founded and curated by Vanja Karas.
Photography Open Salon invites new submissions via an Open Call based on a theme or a subject. The work is curated and exhibited in exceptional settings to offer maximum exposure for the artists. The selected work is also published in a book.
